The iconic Pearl River Mart was founded more than 50 years ago by Ming Yi Chen as a “friendship store” in New York City. Today, his daughter-in-law Joanne Kwong oversees operations of the Asian emporium with locations in SoHo and Chelsea Market. Each location features one-of-a-kind items imported from Asia as well as new decor designed and created by Asian Americans.
